Basic Behavior

Dogs are a pack animal, which means they live in groups. If you have one dog then you and your family are the dogs pack and that is where your dog will want to be. If you are out doing yard work then the dog is going to want that. Same goes for lounging on the couch watching a movie. Dogs are also by nature den animals and means they live in a hole in the ground with one entrance that needs defending. Those that are pets may consider the house their den.
All dogs large or small have the instinct to defend what is theirs and this includes the house and yard. It is also perfectly natural for dogs to hunt and kill. This comes from the will to survive and killing rats, mice, or even larger animals, is what dogs do. This is considered the survival instinct and no matter how mellow a dog may seem, the survival instinct is always there. Sometimes dinner will slip underground and as a result dogs will dig, this is just another way they have learned to survive. Digging comes natural to them and so does chewing.
As with all pack animals they need to have a leader or the alpha as they are referred to. When in the wild the alpha is usually Browsergames the strongest of the group and may include a male and female. When the dog lives with humans the alpha should be the human, but at times the dogs end up being the leaders of the family pack. When the dog becomes the leader over the human in a pack they will try to lead and will try to correct the human when they think the behavior exhibited by them deserves the reprimand. Being the alpha of the pack means leading them, but it doesn’t require beating them into submission.
